As luck would have it Bear has had her heart set on making star biscuits over the past few days so we used her idea as inspiration for dessert for our picnic.
Rather than the usual sweet biscuit dough that we have used before the girls and I went through the Martha Stewart Cookie app that we have and chose a chocolate cookie recipe. The same recipe is here on the Martha Stewart website. We topped the star shaped biscuits with a simple chocolate icing (see my post on cupcakes for a basic icing recipe) and silver balls or silver and gold sanding sugar. A perfect accompaniment for all the twinkling lights we saw in the parade.

3/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt (we left this out)
