S is for Scones and Swapping things around

S is for Scones

Sometimes a simple change is all that is needed to inspire creativity.  I had noticed that Bear and Bee hadn't been spending any time in their play kitchen space over the last few weeks.  So today I decided to change the furniture around.  The play kitchen used to occupy a corner of our dining room. It has been replaced by a comfy reading corner and the play kitchen is now in the spare bedroom which is acting as a play room.

As most of you have probably found, no sooner do you move toys around or pack them away than they gain a appearance of newness. This is exactly what I intended to happen and Bear and Bee didn't disappoint.  They spent the day having tea parties and cooking up pancakes, soups and sandwiches in their new kitchen location.

Inspired by all the tea parties that had been happening around me I suggested to Bear and Bee that we make scones for afternoon tea.  Scones are a quick and easy recipe to make and if you whip up a double batch you can store some of the uncooked scones in the freezer to bake another day.

We used this recipe for Buttermilk Scones as we had some leftover buttermilk in the fridge that needed to be used up.  Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of the cooked scones and by the time I remembered they were all gone.  They were too delicious.
